Stephen Bonzak, MS, LAc, Dipl.

Stephen Bonzak, MS, DCCM, FICEAM, LAc is the founder and director of Health Traditions Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Clinic in Chicago. He completed his undergraduate degree at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and then attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM), receiving a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine.

Mr. Bonzak is licensed as an acupuncturist in the state of Illinois, and is Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in the practice of both acupuncture and herbal medicine. In addition to his practice, he teaches classes in herbal medicine and medical theory at PCOM, supervises interns in the student clinic, and is the Chair of the Oriental Medicine Department.

 

Stephen Bonzak is a Diplomate of Canonical Chinese Medicine℠ DCCM℠ and a Fellow of the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine℠ FICEAM

Mr. Bonzak is an herbalist specialized in Canonical Chinese Medicine™, a style of herbalism based on the Chinese Han-dynasty classics, and has completed 400+ hours of advanced post-graduate training at the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine™ where in 2012 he was certified as a Diplomate. Since 2015, Mr. Bonzak is also certified as a Fellow of the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine FICEAM, after the successful completion of a 200 hours clinical internship.

During his years of training, Mr. Bonzak was fortunate to meet and attend seminars with Dr. Zeng Rongxiu on a number of occasions. Since 2011, he has functioned as the director of the Chicago Institute of Classics of East Asian Medicine, hosting ICEAM’s Canonical Chinese Medicine Training™ program in the Midwest.

Since 2013, Mr. Bonzak has started teaching both domestically and internationally alongside Dr. Versluys as a co-instructor in the aforementioned training program. He was one of the first practitioners to become clinically certified as a Fellow of the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine, and is one of only two Clinical Supervisors currently approved by Dr. Versluys.

Christy Chiang, MS, DCCM, LAc

Christy joined Health Traditions Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Clinic in 2016. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from China Medical University (Taiwan) which is one of the top one schools that integrates TCM and Western Medicine. She latercompleted her Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She believes that the integration of Western and Oriental Medicine is the most effective and best way to help her patients achieve their health care goals and the first approach that should be tried before going to surgery.

Her four-year masters program included over 3500 hours of classroom and clinical training in acupuncture, herbal medicine, auriculotherapy, moxibustion, cupping, tui na, electrical stimulation, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and orthopedics. Using her language skill and educational background, Christy continues to translate textbooks in order to share knowledge and benefit her colleagues, and inform practitioners of the safety, quality and effectiveness of herbal medicine..
